What is a Squeezebox Wi-Fi music player?

Squeezebox Wi-Fi music players use your home network to allow you to listen to your personal digital music collection, discover new music from Internet based services and tune to thousands of Internet radio stations from all over the world. Products like Squeezebox Duet connect to your home stereo or powered speakers, while products like Squeezebox Boom and Squeezebox Radio offer an all-in-one solution with built-in speakers.

Does it work with iTunes?

Yes—you can play your DRM-free iTunes downloads on your Squeezebox.  However, you will not be able to play any DRM (digital rights management) encrypted files. In January of 2009, Apple announced the ability to upgrade your DRM music files to remove the encryption.

Do I need a Wireless Router?

No—you can use either a wired or wireless router with any Squeezebox player. Support for Wi-Fi and Ethernet networks enables all Logitech® Squeezebox™ players to seamlessly integrate with your existing home network.

Do your products support 802.11 n routers?

Currently our players work with both true 802.11b up to 802.11g wireless networks. Although our players work with 802.11 n routers, they presently do not support the features of 802.11 n.

What do I need to setup my Squeezebox?

When listening to Internet radio and music services a broadband Internet connection is required (wireless router preferred). To play the music on your computer, you need to install our software (Squeezebox Server). For all of our products, except the Squeezebox Boom and Squeezebox Radio, you will need a stereo or powered speakers.

How do I connect a Squeezebox player to my stereo?

Squeezebox players connect to your home theater, stereo, or powered speakers using either the digital or analog output *on the back of the device.

*Using the digital output requires an optical or coaxial cable, not included. The analog output requires the RCA cable that ships with the player.

Can I use a multiple zone receiver or amplifier with your products?

Yes—the Squeezebox product line will work with a multi zone power source. Each player, with exception to the Transporter, is capable of sending one signal to all connected speakers. For different music in each room, additional players will be needed.

Click here for more information on the Transporter.

Does my computer need to be running in order to use a Squeezebox player?

No—your computer is only required when playing your local music library from your hard drive. To play your local music, your computer needs Squeezebox Server software installed and running. If you simply wish to play Internet radio or any of our other music services, your computer does not need to be on.

Yes—the Squeezebox Controller works with the entire Squeezebox family of products! The Controller also operates multiple players should you wish to add Squeezebox players to other rooms in your home. You can synchronize players and play the same song in every room, or control players independently and give each room its own soundtrack.

Does the Squeezebox Receiver need a Squeezebox Controller in order to function?

Yes—Squeezebox Controller is required for the initial set up of your Squeezebox Receiver. Squeezebox Receiver is sold separately as an inexpensive way to add additional rooms for Duet or Controller owners.

Yes—you can use NAS with the Squeezebox family of products. However, there are several steps involved in this type of set up that differ by NAS device manufacturer. *Currently we only support the Netgear ReadyNAS product line listed here. These devices come pre-installed with Squeezebox Server.
